Data Analyst · Marine Corps Veteran · Austin, TX
I turn complex data into decisions: from school-finance models shaping Texas education policy to building production dashboards used by legislative staff statewide.
About
After eight years in the United States Marine Corps as a CBRN specialist, operating mobile laboratories, leading hazmat teams at National Special Security Events, and managing $11M in critical assets, I turned that discipline toward data science.
Today I work at the Texas Legislative Budget Board as a Data Analyst on the Public Education team, where I build and maintain the systems that inform school-finance policy for every school district in Texas.
When I'm not working with state data, I'm running a self-hosted homelab: a two-node Proxmox cluster managing 20+ containerized services spanning media, home automation, document archival, and more.
Work
A production multi-page Plotly Dash application used by the Texas Legislative Budget Board to QC and compare Old vs. New Foundation School Program model runs. Spans seven analytical pages: statewide tax breakdowns, enrollment trends, property value growth, entitlement components, facilities funding, a district choropleth map, and a per-district lookup table. Built a parquet-cached dataframe architecture supporting multiple model formats through a unified abstraction layer, substantially reducing page load times across all 1,000+ Texas school districts.
Internal tool · not publicly availableA two-node Proxmox virtualization cluster with PCIe GPU passthrough for hardware-accelerated transcoding. MikroTik routing, Pi-hole ad-blocking, and a Debian VM hosting 15+ Docker containers: media (Jellyfin), photo management (Immich), document archival (Paperless-NGX), home automation (Home Assistant), and more. Secured externally via Cloudflare Tunnel.
